Restoration Update 9/14/2024
Greenwell Springs - DEMCO is pleased to announce that power restoration in all seven parishes impacted by Hurricane Francine is nearly complete today. Current outages are due to issues independent of the storm and will be addressed accordingly.
At the height of the storm, outages peaked at 39,000. Thanks to the combined efforts of DEMCO and more than 500 additional workers, power was restored within 36 hours.
As operations wind down, visiting crews will gather for a final meal, collect their clean laundry, and receive a warm sendoff before heading home to their families.
CEO and General Manager Randy Pierce shared his thoughts on the collective effort and community spirit that contributed to this timely restoration:
"It never gets old seeing the camaraderie that comes with storm mode. While it’s nothing we ever look forward to, it’s in these moments that we truly show our colors as a co-op.
Restoring power is no small task; it takes an entire team working together to make it happen. While our linemen are often the most visible, the combined effort of countless others brings success.
We’re especially grateful to our co-op members for your support. You’ve been prayerful, encouraging, and patient; everyone working to restore power has felt your understanding and positive energy.
It’s a true demonstration of teamwork, dedication, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone for your commitment and unwavering support.”
DEMCO is a locally owned electric cooperative with 117,600 meters serving members in seven southeast Louisiana parishes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, E. Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, and W. Feliciana.
