Rates and Terms of Service

Rates 2026

The Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) approved updates to DEMCO’s base rates, tariffs, and overall rate design, effective January 2026. To view the regulatory filing, visit the Louisiana Public Service Commission and search Docket #U-37392 at LPSC.louisiana.gov/utilities. If there is any difference between the online document and the official filing, the LPSC-approved tariff will take precedence.

DEMCO’s Rates and Terms of Service are available for download. The booklet includes details on rate schedules, service requirements, and policies that apply to your electric service.

This information is provided for general reference and may not reflect all conditions that apply to your account. Not every rate or schedule is available at every location or for every service type.

For questions about rates, service requirements, or billing, please contact DEMCO at 1-844-MyDEMCO, Option 3.

FAQs

From time to time, updates are necessary to reflect the actual cost of providing service — including system maintenance, equipment, and operations. Our focus remains on strengthening reliability and keeping rates as low as possible for our members.

These updates:

  • Better align rates with the true cost of service
  • Support reliability and financial stability
  • Promote fairness and transparency across all members

To ensure transparency, fairness, and fiscal responsibility, DEMCO follows a regulated, data-driven process based on the actual cost of providing service. It starts with our regulating authority, the LPSC.

To view the regulatory filing, visit the Louisiana Public Service Commission and search Docket #U-37392 at LPSC.louisiana.gov/utilities.

  • DEMCO conducted and filed the results of a Cost of Service Study (COSS) with the LPSC.
  • COSS data ensures that rate adjustments reflect the actual costs of providing electric service — from materials and equipment to operations and maintenance.
  • The LPSC reviews, holds hearings, and votes on proposed updates.

Not always. Some members may see little to no change, while others may see a small increase or decrease based on how much electricity is used. Because some charges are increasing and others are decreasing, the total impact varies by household.

The delivery charge for the first 1,000 kWh = $0.03985

The delivery charge for all additional kWh = $0.04635

EXAMPLE: Residential Rate Class (1)
1,500 kWh or less
, bills will most likely stay the same or decrease slightly.

Over 1,500 kWh, bills will increase slightly.

For members who desire to have some control over their electric rate in exchange for some lifestyle modifications, Time of Use ‘off-peak ‘and ‘super off-peak’ rates are available for opt in.

Rates are designed only to recover the cost of:

  • Operating and maintaining the system
  • Investing in infrastructure
  • Managing debt responsibly
  • Preparing for storms and emergencies

Any profit margins are reinvested into the cooperative for the benefit of all members.
