DEMCO wants to help inspire a love of reading in your child! Register your child to receive a free book every month from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. 

Each fall, DEMCO presents "Making Accidents Disappear," an engaging electrical safety magic show. This 30-minute performance highlights the potential hazards of electricity when not used safely, emphasizing its role as a powerful and convenient tool. 

Throughout the school year, DEMCO crews visit area schools to showcase their bucket trucks and safety equipment, offering students a firsthand look at their essential work. To request a show or get more information, click Learn More. 

DEMCO's expert safety team provides a live power line demo to showcase the life-threatening dangers of electricity. Designed for school-aged audiences, this impactful presentation highlights the hazards present in and around power lines. 

An all-expense paid leadership and educational program for 9th and 10th grade students. This program aims to foster positive ideas and values about cooperatives, cooperative governance, and the seven cooperative principles. 

Since 1978, DEMCO has sponsored an annual essay contest for high school juniors. Twelve 11th-grade students are selected to present their essays at a banquet, and six win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Rural Electric Youth Tour! 

One-year academic scholarships to students attending a Louisiana public college or university are awarded each year in a random drawing at DEMCO's annual meeting in May. The scholarships awarded by DEMCO provide $1,250 per semester toward tuition for the fall and spring semesters of the academic year. 

DEMCO participates in career fairs and class talks to highlight the diverse jobs within an electric cooperative.
