DEMCO Publishes 2024 Annual Report

Greenwell Springs, Louisiana — DEMCO has published its 2024 Annual Report, featuring audited financial statements, operational updates, and system statistics from January 1 to December 31, 2024.

DEMCO’s 2024 system statistics show kilowatt-hour sales of 2,394,080,337, serving 119,120 meters across 9,145 miles of line. The electric plant in service is valued at $821,494,340, reflecting a $32,617,080 increase from 2023.

“DEMCO’s growth over time reflects the strength of the cooperative business model and our dedication to providing safe, reliable, and competitively priced energy services,” says Randy Pierce, DEMCO chief executive officer and general manager.

To optimize operations and enhance grid reliability, DEMCO completed robust system inspections and maintenance activities, including vegetation management and pole inspections. In 2024, DEMCO responded to multiple major weather events, including spring tornadoes and Hurricane Francine.

“From trimming rights-of-way to inspecting poles and lines, our team works hard year-round to keep our system resilient and ready for whatever comes our way,” says Pierce.

Four board directors were re-elected to serve new three-year terms: Elinda Taillon (Ascension Parish), Jill McGraw (East Baton Rouge Parish), Leslie Falks (Livingston Parish), and Tresa Byrd (St. Helena Parish).

“Our directors are elected by our members to represent the members they serve,” adds Pierce. “They live here, they listen, and they lead with the cooperative’s best interests at heart.”

DEMCO awarded 117 scholarships totaling $208,750 to member-students. Since 1997, DEMCO scholarship funding totals $1.8 million.

“We’re proud to support the future of our communities through scholarships, education programs, and community outreach,” says Pierce. “It’s another way we power life beyond the meter.”

The DEMCO Foundation, funded entirely by participating members, provided $162,000 in direct assistance in 2024.
