Day Three: Hurricane Ida Outages and Restoration

Greenwell Springs, Louisiana - Outages from Hurricane Ida are extensive across our seven-parish service area, reflected below. Countless trees took down critical DEMCO infrastructure such as transmission and distribution poles, lines and wires. Damage assessments were nothing short of disastrous. Several areas are flooded which prevents safe assessment and restoration progress.

DEMCO is working with Entergy and the Public Service Commission to prioritize repairs to facilities that DEMCO relies on to deliver power to all member homes and businesses.

Along with DEMCO crew members, we have solicited the assistance of outside contractor crews, many who work with us every day, hundreds of outside electric cooperative crew members. The addition of these crews and many more in the coming days will help expedite this restoration.

Please continue to pray for the safety of all lineworkers and emergency services personnel. Days are long and this is only day 3 of what will be a weeks-long restoration effort.
