Greenwell Springs, LA – DEMCO is actively monitoring and preparing for hurricane Delta, the 25th named storm this Atlantic hurricane season, forecast to be the 10th US landfall.
“We encourage members to prepare now for potential loss of power, due to anticipated heavy rain and winds,” says Randy Pierce, CEO and General Manager.
DEMCO reminds everyone that winds and rain can impact the system before the storm passes. Electric lines are often torn down by limbs and trees, and dangling lines and lines on the ground are often hidden by debris and water – but can be deadly.
Crews are ready to respond when it is safe to do so. “Flood waters must recede, and wind speed must be mild enough for us to safely deploy crews and machinery necessary to repair damage and restore power,” says Mark Phillips, DEMCO Director of Operations.
“Please stay away from downed power lines and do not walk through water, where energized lines may not be visible,” says David Latona, Vice President of Marketing and Member Services. “Also please allow linemen and crews to focus on the work at hand – if you have questions about your power, call 1-844-MyDEMCO (1-844-693-3626).”
