Greenwell Springs, Louisiana – DEMCO reports 78 percent meter-restoration, with remaining outages of 24468. Estimated times of restoration listed may change as new information or challenges arise.
“To help our members after the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida, DEMCO is suspending cutoff notices, penalties, and late fees for members affected by the storm,” said Randy Pierce, CEO and general manager. “DEMCO will also be offering payment arrangements if you were affected by Hurricane Ida.”
Outages by Parish: Ascension parish - 15086 meters, 42964 out (72% energized); East Baton Rouge –35552 meters, 614 out (98% energized); East Feliciana – 6062 meters, 464 out (90% energized); Livingston parish - 45355 meters, 15333 out (66% energized); St. Helena – 5251 meters, 3144 out (40% energized); Tangipahoa – 626 meters, 620 out (1% energized); West Feliciana – 4527 meters restored from Hurricane Ida, 28 outages due to weather today.
Updates by Parish:
Ascension: Damage assessment continues as crews clear affected areas. Most three-phase main lines have been assessed: 430 broken poles in addition to transformers and lines. The vast majority of members in the Galvez and Head of Island areas will be restored on or before 9/15; in Summerfield, Greenfield Crossing, Stevens Rd., Harry Savoy Rd., and Redbud Rd. off of Airline Hwy, on or before 9/17; and in St. Amant, Prairieville and Gonzales on or before 9/20.
East Baton Rouge: Crews are working in neighborhoods in the Central/Greenwell Springs area; the vast majority of members in these areas will be restored on or before 9/12; and for members along Hwy 37, 9/18.
East Feliciana: The Woodland area is 80% energized and should be complete within the next 5-7 days. Damage is primarily in hard to access areas that require off-road equipment. The vast majority of members in the Felixville area will be restored on or before 9/13; and in the Woodland area on or before 9/18.
Livingston: Damage is extensive and devastating. Broken poles total 430 and assessment continues. The Frost, Holden and LIGO substations are now receiving transmission and crews are now repairing distribution. The vast majority of members in the areas of Frost, Colyell, Satsuma, Denham Springs, Springfield Rd. West, Wiess Rd, and Hwy. 63 will be restored on or before 9/11; in Walker and the Watson/Live Oak are on or before 9/12; in Albany, Holden and Springfield on or before 9/17; in Killian on or before 9/18, and along Hwy. 449, Hwy. 1041 and Hwy 1036 on or before 9/29.
Extensive damage in these areas make it difficult to provide a restoration estimate: Maurepas School, Tiger Bluff, Lower Rome Rd., Rive r Pines Rd., Gum Swamp Rd., Three Rivers Island, Old River Rd., La Trace, River Bend, and Horse Bluff.
St. Helena and Tangipahoa: The entire east side of St. Helena is devastated and transmission infrastructure requires rebuild. The hospital, nursing home, and assisted living facilities have been restored. All three-phase main lines have been assessed - 384 broken poles. Unable to assess our single-phase taps. Making good progress on the transmission between Greensburg and Pine Grove, Easleyville and Kentwood areas, with repairs to most of the three-phase main feeder lines. The repairs in the Chipola and Colemantown areas are well underway and remaining areas east and west of Greensburg and south of Darlington require rebuild and extensive repairs. DEMCO transmission is energized from Grangeville to Greensburg and portions of Grangeville, Darlington, and Greensburg tations are energized. Right-of-way clearing from Greensburg to Easleyville, and have several crews working their way north on Hwy 43. Right-of-way clearing continues along transmission from Greensburg to Pine Grove, and several spans of line require rebuild between Hwy 43 to Hwy 1045 which crosses the Tickfaw River. This will be an extended weeks-long outage.
The vast majority of members in the Grangeville area will be restored on or before 9/12; in Chipola Colemantown on or before 9/17; in the Town of Greensburg, Easleyville, Kentwood, Greensburg, South of Darlington and Pine Grove on 9/22.
In Tangipahoa restoration to the vast majority of members and other areas is estimated between 9/29 and 10/6.
