Greenwell Springs, LA – Before dawn this morning, DEMCO crews boarded a charter bus and began their journey to Laurens Electric Cooperative near Greenville, South Carolina, to continue vital storm restoration efforts following Hurricane Helene. The fresh team of linemen will relieve coworkers who have been working tirelessly since their initial deployment on September 26.
DEMCO crews initially responded to Talquin Electric Cooperative in Florida, where they assisted in power restoration efforts. After completing their work there, they were reassigned to Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative. As restoration continues across the region, DEMCO’s team is now relocating to South Carolina to support Laurens Electric Cooperative with ongoing recovery work.
The newly rotated crews will take over the equipment and trucks sent with the first team, ensuring a smooth transition in the restoration process.
This mutual aid deployment through the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives showcases the commitment of DEMCO’s employees to assist neighboring cooperatives and restore power to impacted communities. DEMCO remains dedicated to supporting areas in need and is proud of its team’s dedication and hard work.
