Greenwell Springs, LA – On July 9, DEMCO crews were deployed to the Marshall, Texas, area to assist Panola-Harrison Electric Cooperative in the aftermath of a tornado.
As part of the Hurricane Beryl weather system, the July 9 tornado caused extensive damage to Panola’s system, resulting in widespread damage and outages.
DEMCO crews will work alongside Panola-Harrison's team to repair the affected infrastructure.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted, and we are glad to help in the restoration effort,” says Randy Pierce, DEMCO chief executive officer and general manager.
Cody Glascock, Central District Manager, will lead DEMCO crews in this restoration effort. Two crew members from each DEMCO service district responded to the call for mutual aid:
Zach Herring and Braden Owens, Central District
Cade Felps and Jared Soileau, St. Francisville District
Larry Stewart and Alex Newman, Galvez District
Jimmy Holden and Josh Miller, Greensburg District
Tylar Keefer and Justin Milton, Livingston District
Scott DeLee and Michael Welborn, Zachary District
“Electric co-ops have a cooperative approach to recovery and restoration after a major weather event,” says Anne Hawes, DEMCO member and public relations manager. “It’s part of our cooperative principles ‘cooperation among cooperatives.’”
DEMCO is part of an electric cooperative mutual aid agreement facilitated by the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, which assists other cooperatives in the Southeast region and around the country.
